I’ve been counting down the days to the October 16th premiere of Where the Wild Things Are. Call me a grown-up kid, but I can’t wait to see how Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers bring one of my favorite children’s books to life. And there’s the added bonus of Catherine Keener and Mark Ruffalo playing the mother and boyfriend—two of my favorite actors. I was fully expecting the hype over this movie to be huge, but I wasn’t expecting that hype to include quite so many designer products: Toys, yes. Collectible McDonald’s cups, maybe. A line of faux-fur clothing that’s actually pretty cool, definitely not. But over the last few days I’ve seen product after product hitting stores that’s based on the furry giants from this movie—and, shockingly, I want a lot of it.
