The holiday season brought pleasant surprises for some retailers in the Roanoke Valley, who said sales rose slightly from last year.
“Consumer confidence was way up,” said Virginia Wiegand, owner of Vivendi, a women’s clothing boutique in Southwest Roanoke County. “Everybody was so tentative last year.”
